Lenningen in Valdres is home to a unique reindeer tradition that brings together both cabin owners and outdoor enthusiasts every winter. Fram Reinlag, led by Hallgeir Opdal, annually moves its winter herd of 3,000 reindeer through the beautiful landscape of Synnfjellet, including Ølsjølitoppen Cottage field.
An Event in Synnfjellet
At the end of February we witnessed the reindeer herd's migration from Djuptjendskampen, through the Hølbekkenløypa trail, and past Ølsjølitoppen Hyttefelt. Hundreds of people had gathered to watch the nearly one thousand reindeer pass the crossing point at Feplassen. This tradition extends from Valdresflya in the west to Espedalen in the east, and further towards Spåtind and Synnfjell in the south. This large grazing area ensures good animal welfare and first-class quality of meat.

We followed Fram Reinlag's winter herd with a drone and camera to document the spectacular movement. The herd moved along Slaverivegen, crossed the county road at Feplassen, and continued towards their winter pasture in Synnfjellet in a beautiful formation.
